French in the time of Corona

UPDATE

21 September 2020: As we have moved into LEVEL 1, we will slowly be opening the Alliance Française de Pretoria to a larger public. We will also start organising some of our classes in our premises. Some limitations will still be implemented:

  • A maximum of 50 people at a time within the premises
  • Masks will need to be worn at all times within the premises
  • Please remember to wash hands and sanitise
  • To more easily track COVID-19 and receive alerts, please download the SA COVID Alert App
  • You will be screened before entering the premises (your temperature will be taken and you will fill in a small form)
Please visit COVID-19 Corona Virus South African Resource Portal for more information regarding the virus and how it is being managed.

As you have most probably heard, South Africa will be in full lock-down from the Thursday 26th March to Thursday 16 April 2020 due to COVID-19. This will be a difficult time for everyone. We would like to encourage everyone to stay at home and follow all the instructions by the South African government.

We have had to make a few difficult decisions. We have had to cancel all of our cultural events, and had to make dramatic changes to the functioning of the Alliance Française Pretoria.

We will be closing our office Thursday evening for the national lock-down, until the 16th of April, or as per further instructions from the SA Government.

We would like to inform everyone that we will continue all our classes online, either through Skype or through our brand new fully online class! If you have friends or family that always wanted to take French, but never had the time, now is the perfect time to start.

We will be working from home and are available through all our electronic channels, including Email, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the Website (the Contact page has a contact form you can fill in and we will be able to contact you directly). Our telephone lines will be down during this period, so please avoid trying to call us.

If you follow us on Facebook or Twitter, check out our posts on free things you can do during the 21-day lock-down! Just follow the hashtag #miniculturaltours

We hope that all of you stay safe and we will see each other very soon!
